So I started sifting through and watching many youtube videos about making potato chips! I found that I really wanted to start making them. They are much easier than people think! So what I did was get a 10LB bag of potatoes for 6$ and started testing hash browns and potato chips!
Now the hash browns my first time didn’t get crispy. Its because I didn’t wash the shredded potatoes. But when I did wash them the 2nd time, they turned out great! They shrink alot when they are shredded however so you may want to double up on potatoes if you wish to have more to eat.
As for the potato chips, they were easy once I started to wash them as well. These take the longest as I usually do 5 or 6 potatoes.
What you need is:
- Pan
- Oil
- Potatoes
- Salt
This can be any oil, this can be any potato. Many people direct you to use russel or other types of potatoes, but really you can make them out of just about any potato.
All you need to do is simply wash them in water till the water turns cloudy. After that you dry them to reduce splatter. Then, you simply fry them at medium high or high until browned and crispy! Just be careful not to set off the fire alarm like I have!
Hash browns are pretty much the same procedure. However, start on medium high to get to a simmer, and then turn to high so they cook all the way through till browned. Gamers gotta eat! Ill update with pictures as I do another batch! Thanks for reading!
